On many occasions we have been asked to download pre-shot footage and edit down into a film worthy of funding. In fact, the very first Kickstarter campaign we ever worked on was editing and animation only. It was for the Lukla Endeavour outerwear for the 21st century adventurer. It was an absolute blast to work on. Since then we’ve shot, edited and animated many more. 

We mostly take on the scripting, shooting and editing work as a package but with budgets assigned to product development and marketing there tends to be little left for video production. I could argue until I was blue in the face about leaving enough budget for shooting a video but it never seems to work out. 

So, what can be done? Well, with camera technology getting cheaper why not shoot the video yourselves? If you’ve had enough passion to develop the product in the first place I’m sure there is enough left to shoot a video showing it off! 

Let’s say you have a walking product that you want to fund. Why not write up your perfect idea, get out and shoot with friends or colleagues and send the raw video to a post production house for polishing? I know what you are saying; why not edit ourselves? After shooting a lot of films over the years the editing is the hardest part. The ability to tell a coherent story is something that can’t be learned quickly. Only experience can deliver a great story which is why it’s so important to hire an editor you can trust.
